The Catalan baritone Francesc Ortega i Martí has performed under the direction of renowned conductors such as Jordi Savall, Andrea Marcon and René Jacobs at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the KKL Lucerne and La Cité de la Musique in Paris.
In autumn 2017, the baritone won the "Konzerthaus Freiburg Förderpreis 2017" and was a scholarship holder of the Helen-Rosenberg Foundation Freiburg. He was also a fellow of the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation and winner of the Bach Foundation Barcelona.
He began his musical training in the boys' choir "L'Escolania de Montserrat", where he was directed by Kirill Petrenko, Mstislav Rostropovich and others. Master classes also led him to Brigitte Fassbaender, Ton Koopmann, Hartmut Höll and Richard Levitt. After completing his master studies with Prof. Torsten Meyer at the University of Music Freiburg, he was accepted for the study program Masterclass / Concert Exams. Since April 2019 Ortega i Martí teaches singing at the University of Music Freiburg.
Francesc Ortega i Martí has performed in some prestigious European ensembles such as WDR Radio Choir, La Cetra Vocal Ensemble, Zurich Sing-Akademie, Vocal Academy Berlin or La capella Reial de Catalunya. As part of the opera, the young baritone has sung the roles of Papageno (Magic Flute, Mozart), Pacuvio (La pietra del Paragone, Rossini), Pausole (Les aventures du Roi Pausole, Honegger), Le podestat (Docteur Miracle, Bizet) conducted by Attilio Cremonesi, Claire Levacher and Neil Beardmore.
Together with his pianist Victoria Guerrero, Ortegai Martí has performed regularly in Germany and Spain since 2013. In the summer of 2018 Ortega took part in the first Lied Academy of the Schubertiada in Vilabertran with Prof. Wolfram Rieger. In the coming season, Francesc Ortega will perform in Switzerland, Romania, Austria, France, Germany and Spain as a soloist and ensemble singer.
